Elektra – Fire-Breathing Kinetic Dragon Sculpture
Commissioned as a private large-scale sculpture project, Elektra is a fully engineered, fire-breathing vehicular dragon fabricated at Engineered Artworks by a collaborative team of over 60 artists. This kinetic sculpture merges art, engineering, and spectacle into a visually stunning, technically advanced creation designed to dazzle audiences and defy expectations.
From her rotating hydraulic wings with a 60-foot wingspan to over 210,000 individually addressable LEDs, Elektra is a feat of custom sculpture fabrication. The lifelike creature was constructed by artists, engineers, metal fabricators, technologists, and pyrotechnicians over many months, showcasing the EA team’s ability to handle high-complexity, high-scale kinetic sculpture projects from concept through execution.
Innovations in this one-of-a-kind project include:
Custom 3D mapping and high-resolution LED content
Light-transmitting polycarbonate “scales”
A flexible LED wing webbing system
A retractable hydraulic wing structure
Fire effects, full pro-audio, and 4WD mobile capability
Elektra is not only a sculpture—she’s a mobile experience designed for immersive storytelling at the largest scale.
