Stella – Kiewit Luminarium, Omaha, NE
Stella is a monumental icosahedron sculpture permanently installed in the front atrium of the Kiewit Luminarium, a new science museum in Omaha, Nebraska. Commissioned as a signature piece for the institution, Stella is a 20-foot-diameter immersive sculpture designed to engage visitors of all ages in a tactile exploration of light, geometry, and color dispersion.
Fabricated by Engineered Artworks, the suspended structure features twenty triangular acrylic panels set within a robust steel and aluminum frame. As guests move through the space, the interactive surfaces reveal shifting light and color effects, creating a multisensory experience that aligns with the museum’s mission to inspire curiosity through science and design.
This permanent installation demonstrates Engineered Artworks’ expertise in large-scale sculpture fabrication, custom engineering, and public art for educational spaces.
