Cal State East Bay Campus Monument – Large-Scale Public Art Installation
Commissioned in 2017 to mark the renaming of California State University, East Bay, this large-scale sculptural monument was designed as a permanent placemaking element and visual landmark for the campus. The installation consists of individually seam-welded stainless steel letters, each fabricated with precision and care to reflect both the university’s legacy and future.
Every letter features blended welds, a satin brush finish, and programmable LED floodlighting integrated discreetly into its base—creating a striking presence both day and night. Spanning 60 feet in length, the sculpture required custom structural anchoring and meticulous attention to detail, showcasing Engineered Artworks’ expertise in public art fabrication and architectural metalwork.
This project highlights the studio’s ability to deliver durable, visually compelling sculptural signage that enhances public space and reinforces identity for civic and institutional clients.
