Apollonia – Burning Man Art Car by Yves Behar

Apollonia is a sculptural art car reimagined by renowned designer Yves Behar and brought to life in collaboration with the fabrication team at Engineered Artworks. Made for Burning Man, this large-scale mobile artwork explores themes of geometry, motion, and interconnection through an elegant array of illuminated rings and custom structural elements.

Engineered Artworks executed a full rebuild of Apollonia’s mechanical and aesthetic systems—from the engine and drive train to steering, lighting, brakes, and the custom-fabricated ring architecture—creating a seamless union of artistic vision and high-performance function.

Behar describes the conceptual inspiration:

“Circles, rings, and how they touch and fit together has always fascinated me, as a starting point of sacred ancient geometry. And then I discovered the Greek’s Apollonius’ problem on how to construct one or more circles that are tangent to three given objects . . . essentially how to construct tangential circles within circles became my starting point.”

This collaboration exemplifies Engineered Artworks’ ability to realize complex, large-scale sculptural projects through custom fabrication, technical design, and artist partnership.
