Dragonfly – Art Car Kinetic Sculpture for Burning Man 2024

Commissioned by the Lucid Dreams Burning Man camp, Dragonfly is a large-scale kinetic sculpture and vehicular art installation designed and fabricated by Engineered Artworks for the 2024 Burning Man Arts Festival.

Built atop a custom vehicular base, this dragonfly-inspired sculpture features a hand-fabricated steel exoskeleton and a fully integrated system of addressable LED lighting that animates its wings and body with mesmerizing light choreography. Equal parts engineering and artistry, Dragonfly transforms from a striking sculptural form by day to an illuminated, interactive experience by night.

The design and fabrication process spanned several months and involved close collaboration between the client, artists, engineers, and technologists. As a kinetic light sculpture, Dragonfly exemplifies the creative and technical range of Engineered Artworks in producing one-of-a-kind mobile installations.
