Charismatic Expressions of a Microscopic World

Charismatic Expressions of a Microscopic World is a new series of metal sculpture inspired by seedpods and naturally forming geometric shapes found in nature. The series makes reference to micro-flora and -fauna, as well as vintage scientific illustrations of microscopic organisms.

Disintegration

Disintegration
I created this piece in memory of my grandmother Francis Orlando… my father’s mother. She was diagnosed with and suffered from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. I remember her slowly deteriorating over time until she lost all control of her muscles and bodily functions. She died when I was very young. It was purchased in 2005 by Charles Olsen and sits in his private collection.
