Fabricator/ Woodworker/ Art Production

Engineered Artworks is a small design/build art studio based in West Oakland. We provide the knowledge and experience required to implement any project from concept and design, through fabrication, installation and public unveiling. Engineered Artworks creates one-of-a-kind installations while also supporting both established and emerging artists, architects and design firms with project consultation, fabrication and logistical support.

We’re looking for an experienced and creative person(s), capable of working independently using all the standard tools and procedures of a metal- and woodshop. Ideal candidates can bring their insight to help solve problems, while working in a small team, taking direction, and occasionally directing contractors and/or volunteers.

Initially, we have the workload for on-going project based freelance positions. Our goal is to establish a steady workload to hire full-time positions in the near future.

Compensation would be competitive, and based on level of previous experience.

Skills & Qualifications:

Woodworking / Carpentry
• Framing / Finish Carpentry
• Fabricating with wood, plywood, and other various materials
• Shop maintenance
• Basic shop drawings
• Staining / painting / clear coating

Metal working / Fabrication
• Familiarity with basic metal working tools
Angle grinder
Drill press
Break / Shear
Shaping / Forming
• Fabrication of mild steel, stainless & aluminum
• Shop maintenance
• Basic shop drawings

Work Ethic
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
• Detail oriented
• Reliable & punctual
